Who Are the  Kalanga

The Legacy of
Valovi

The name Kalanga is more than a geographical marker. It is a name woven through history, tracing the movements, resilience, and evolution of African people across borders and generations

Derived from a word meaning “northerners” in the Shona language, the Kalanga people are part of a powerful cultural and spiritual lineage that spans Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana, and northern South Africa.

our work

The Monkey and the Stone

In the heart of my creative language is a symbol intentional and sacred. The monkey with a gemstone. This motif appears across my work, not as an ornament, but as a totem. As a declaration. The monkey is my clan totem as a Mathebula, a spiritual marker of ancestry. But beyond its lineage, it carries meaning I have come to understand and define for myself. In my eyes, the monkey is a being of extraordinary intelligence.

The African Renaissance Collection

The African Renaissance is more than a movement, it is a return. A rebirth of African identity, dignity, and excellence. Historically, the term gained prominence in the late 20th century as a call to restore Africa’s agency after centuries of displacement, colonialism, and cultural erasure.

With this first men’s collection, I honour him, not only as my parent, but as one of my ancestors, now watching over us. My father was an artist, a man deeply connected to music. His guitar was an extension of his spirit, and his creativity ran through his veins like lifeblood.

What Is Your Story? Let’s Tell It Together.

Do you know who you are?

Do you want to find out more?

How would you like to honour your ancestors, those whose names live in your blood, whose dreams made your life possible?

How do you want to preserve that memory for yourself, for your family, and for the generations still to come?

Let these stories be seen, let them be worn, let them be passed down. Through custom-made pieces designed with intention and reverence, you are invited to create something deeply personal, an heirloom of identity, a celebration of legacy, a symbol of love.

This is more than jewellery. This is memory, made visible. This is your story, shaped in gold and stone.
